Inspection and Testing of Mosquito Nets in Vietnam
Context
In order to reduce the risk associated with the procurement and supply of mosquito nets, donor requirements required the Malaria Consortium to conduct pre-delivery inspections on all consignments of mosquito nets sourced from two manufacturing locations in Vietnam. Additionally, the Malaria Consortium was required to verify that all batches of mosquito nets were tested at an independent accredited laboratory. Together, this ensured that products were fully compliant with established safety and manufacturing specifications.
The Opportunity/Solution
Leveraging a global network of inspectors, Connexi conducted six on-site pre-delivery consignment inspections at the two separate Vietnam manufacturing sites between March and June 2025. During these inspections, representative samples of mosquito nets were assessed to ensure that the product complied with required specifications, including size and dimensions, appearance, packing, labelling, defects identification, quality, quantity, packing list verification, active ingredient(s), and materials. Following each inspection, results were shared with both the vendor and with the Malaria Consortium.
Connexi also facilitated the collection and dispatch of representative samples for inspection by an independent accredited laboratory in Singapore. Connexi managed coordination with the laboratory, ensuring that results were shared with the Malaria Consortium in a timely manner. By supporting a comprehensive verification of the chemical and physical characteristics of the mosquito nets, Connexi partnered with the Malaria Consortium to ensure patient safety.
Results
All inspections and laboratory testing were completed on time, ensuring that all products were fully compliant with donor specifications prior to shipment. This dramatically increased patient confidence that all mosquito nets from the Malaria Consortium were safe and effective, all at the lowest possible cost.
